Some on the Left Acknowledge Rich’s Tax Burden

High-income taxpayers face the steepest effective tax rates they have in decades, according to the Congressional Budget Office.  The left-leaning Tax Policy Center estimates that families in the top 20 percent of income-earners will pay more than 27 percent of their income in federal taxes, while the bottom 20 percent will pay nothing in federal taxes.

Golfer Phil Mickelson faced a great deal of criticism after recently stating during an interview that he would have to consider moving from California or even the United States in light of increasing tax rates.  But comedian Bill Maher- no conservative- recently made news for voicing similar sentiments.  Appearing on MSNBC, Maher said “I just want to say liberals – you could actually lose me. It’s outrageous what we’re paying [in taxes]- over 50 percent. I’m willing to pay my share, but yeah, it’s ridiculous.”
